Tupac Amaru Shakur (1971–1996), known as 2Pac, was an American rapper, actor and poet, and one of the most influential and charismatic figures in hip-hop history. The son of Afeni Shakur, an activist in the Black Panther movement, he brought issues such as racism, violence, social inequality and life in America's most troubled neighbourhoods into his music. Through landmark albums such as Me Against the World and All Eyez on Me, he combined anger and social commentary with intimate, deeply personal songs like Dear Mama and Keep Ya Head Up. His career was also shaped by the rivalry between the East Coast and West Coast rap scenes. On September 7, 1996, he was shot in Las Vegas and died six days later, aged just 25. In 2017, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. His music and message continue to influence generations of artists.

Figlio di Afeni Shakur, attivista del movimento delle Pantere Nere, ha portato nella sua musica temi come il razzismo, la violenza, le disuguaglianze sociali e la vita nei quartieri più difficili d'America. Con album fondamentali come Me Against the World e All Eyez on Me, ha saputo alternare rabbia e denuncia sociale a brani intimi e profondamente personali, come Dear Mama e Keep Ya Head Up. La sua carriera fu segnata anche dalla rivalità tra le scene rap della East Coast e della West Coast. Il 7 settembre 1996 venne ferito in una sparatoria a Las Vegas e morì sei giorni dopo, a soli 25 anni. Nel 2017 è stato inserito nella Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
